Own it!

Man, am I wound up about this one! First things first, yes - I got this movie based completely on the fact that Priyanka Chopra is in it. Now that's out of the way, let's have a few words about "Kismat."

I had the pleasure of going into this movie pretty cold. I can't even remember if I read the little description on the case or not. In any case, I basically had no knowledge of the events that were about to unfold. We have a lot of wonderful action movie clichés in this film, and I'll go over them in great detail. I've seen some questionable physics in movies before, but this one breaks new ground for a film that is not pretending to have supernatural or sci-fi roots. I'm not saying that a man can't kick two men so hard that they fly backwards for thirty feet and impact the side of a car with enough kinetic energy to completely crush it, but I do have my doubts.

There are a couple of repeat appearances here, so let's have a look.

First up, our main protagonist is portrayed by Bobby Deol. You may remember him as Sahil waaaay back in Gupt. I am happy to report that Tony and Sahil have a lot in common. That is they are quick to anger, quick to beat up dozens of people in broad daylight in public, and somehow still keep the affections of a staggeringly beautiful woman while being directly responsible for a lot of their hardships. What a guy!

Next is the aforementioned Ms. Priyanka Chopra, who is rapidly becoming a favorite on this site. We've previously seen her in Asambhav and Andaaz. Once again, she does a fine job. However the overall quality of this movie is somewhere between her two previous appearances.

Last but not least, we have the return appearance of some of the editing techniques that were horribly, horribly abused in Asambhav. Luckily they are not as prevalent, but I'm still healing from the last time I sat through those and am quick to bruise.

For this outing, we have on the roster:

Tony (Bobby Deol) - No he really isn't Al Pacino's character from Scarface. Seriously. Okay maybe a little bit. Tough gangster type with one little weakness. We'll get to that in a bit.
Sapna (Priyanka Chopra) - a major pop star, and the daughter of an important doctor.
Goli - Tony's friend and the comic relief for the movie. This guy was the best actor in the show, hands down.
Vikas Patil - Gangster of sorts. He provides Tony with his contracts to go out and make problems "disappear."
Raj Mallya (Kabir Bedi) - The real big jerk behind the whole mess. We shall see what comes his way for his horsin' around.
Pankaj - Sapna's personal assistant. Generally excitable kind of guy, but nice enough.
Dr. Hargobind Gosai (Mohan Joshi) - Sapna's father. He's a doctor that inspects vaccines and medicines before they are sold.
Mrs. Gosai (Smita Jaykar) - Sapna's mother. She has a hard time coping with stressful situations.

I hope you're ready for this. I know I had a blast watching this one, so I hope I can do it justice.
